Meet the tutors:

Our SAT classes in Encinitas California are run by experienced tutors, Dongsoo and Meg.

dongsooDongsoo (David) Lee was born and grew up in Seoul, Korea.  He moved to Vancouver, Canada at the age of 17.  He is a 1992 graduate of Shawnigan Lake high school on Vancouver Island in B.C., Canada.  David went on to study finance at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Following his graduation with a bachelor of science in economics, he worked at Datek Securities Inc. (formally known as Trillium Trading Inc.) as an equity trader.  That’s where he met James Maroney, one of his then co-workers.  Both Dongsoo (David) and James enjoyed working together as equity traders in New York city and kept in touch even after James moved back to Milford, CT to start his own education business, First Choice College Placement.  In 2003, Dongsoo (David) decided to move to Carlsbad, CA after 6 years of working as an equity trader at Trillium Trading inc.  He started to work as a management partner at Cornerstone Apparel Inc. in 2004.

Meghean Gormley was born and raised in Milford, CT.  After graduating from Boston College as an English major and a secondary education minor, Meghean moved across the country to San Diego, California.  After arriving in San Diego, she received her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from San Diego State University. Meghean taught high school English at Marian Catholic High School for 6 years.

After starting a family, she decided that she needed a job with more flexibility, so she began editing essays for seniors in high school who were applying to college. She has been editing essays for the past 8 years and recently founded her own company to work directly with students and their parents.  She thoroughly enjoys working with students and helping them portray themselves in the best possible light for a college admission officer. She believes that the most important part of the essay and testing process is easing the parents’ and kids’ stress level and making it a fun experience for everyone.
