| How do I market myself to college tennis
programs? |
|
- Most Division I coaches use USTA rankings in order to develop
their recruiting lists.
- Any player who does not have USTA experience should play in
the summer between junior and senior years.
- The move to Division II and Division III is quite dramatic,
so USTA experience may not be necessary for those levels.
- A student should send a letter
of inquiry to a coach early in the Fall of junior year.
The letter should include:
- Academic credentials.
- USTA ranking and tournament experience (if he is not USTA
ranked, indicate ranked players who you have defeated).
- High School schedule and student tournament schedule.
- An athletic resume.
- Some key programs for area students are the
New England Showcase Day and USTA sponsored events in New
York and the northeast.
