| How do I market myself to college swimming
programs? |
|
- Students should send a letter of interest to college coaches
indicating their academic credentials, interest in the college
and best swimming times. A videotape is not necessary for a
swimmer, but divers should send a videotape.
- On the video tape, the diver should include film of one
of each dive that she can throw.
- If an athlete is interested in Division I swimming, it is
imperative that she is involved with either a club or a Y team.
- It is advisable to be proactive. Write to a coach often and
update her on SAT's, grades, your training and your performances.
- A good guideline to see if a coach would be interested in
recruiting a student would be to see if her current times would
place her in the top 8 at their conference meet.
- Attached is a list of
the top 3 Fordham times for each event in the year that
I visited their campus..
