| How do I market myself to college golf programs? |
|
- The student should send a
letter of inquiry to the college coaches at some point near
the end of sophomore year or the beginning of junior year. The
letter should include:
- Academic Profile of the Student
- What they shoot
- What courses they are playing
- What tournaments they are playing and where they are finishing
- Include a Summer schedule and where they are playing
- Some coaches would also like to receive a videotape. A good
videotape will include:
- Three Views of each club (A face on view, a side view,
and a shot or two from the front (just a swing, not with
an actual golf ball).
- The student should hit a 5 Iron Shot, a drive, and a Wedge
Shot/Approach Shot.
- The student should take two or three swings from each
position.
- It is recommended that a student get involved with club, local
and state amateur tournaments.
- Summer golf camps are also a good way to learn the game and
increase visibility.
- A student shooting in the 80's will be a competitive college
player in New England.
